The Posthuman and Art Research Group

The Posthuman and Art Research Group is an ongoing network comprised of 10 practicing scholars, artists and curators from across Europe, which was convened in 2015. The focus of the group is critical posthuman theory. It centres on the philosophical and ethical frameworks necessary to rethink the present and analyses the power relations at stake in the context of the posthuman predicament. The group was formed as a means to situate art practice in relation to critical posthumanism. To achieve this, we avoid tendencies to illustrate, represent and reaffirm the theory or thematics of posthumanism with, through or by art practice. Our focus, however, is the identification and formation of art practices that are situated, embedded, embodied and in dialogue with the philosophical field.
